ATTITUDE
is everything, is yours worth catching? Accountability, be accountable for your
actions Trustworthy Try even when it is hard Include everyone Teamwork, it takes all of us to work together to accomplish our goals Understand that we can learn from each other. Do your best otherwise it must be
worth doing over Encourage others so we are all successful learners
Discipline Policy: There is "No Monkey Business"
in fourth grade. Positive reinforcement is more effective than negative, so I like to catch the students doing the expected
behaviors. I expect to catch your child being respectful, responsible, and safe.
We use a binder to
document our behavior. This binder is for the students to write down in a complete sentence what their infraction was. In
the months of September, October, and November your child cannot have more than 10 infractions in a month. If your child
has more than 10 infractions then they will not be able to participate in the class reward. A child receiving more than
3 "Think Sheets" in a month will keep them from participating in the class reward as well. Each month the
record sheets start over. As the year progresses we will lessen the number of infractions expected from a fourth grader.
In the months of December, January, and February your child cannot have more than 8 infractions. In the months of March,
April, and may your child cannot have more than 5 infractions. (Any infractions over the limit for the month will result
in loss of recess for each additional infraction)
Classroom Expectations for Success! Respect: 1.
Use positive language with others. 2. Listen attentively while a teacher or a student is speaking. 3.
Be respectful of others' things. 4. Raise your hand to speak in class or a group.
To be Responsibe and Safe: 1. Keep hands, feet, and objects to self. 2. Follow the directions
the first time. 3. Use time wisely in class. 4. Be accountable for your own actions.
To condense these rules down, I usually say to the students that there are 3 big ideas that I expect... 1. To have a positive ATTITUDE 2. Work hard 3. Respect others
